About Me

Hi, I’m Melissa. I live in Glasgow, Scotland, with my three boys and my growing book collection. When I’m not editing, or parenting, I’ll most likely be lost in a fantasy world or building a book nook.

My professional background is in research. I have a PhD in cognitive and evolutionary psychology, which focused on spatial memory in humans and primates. I worked as a graduate teaching assistant during this time, before taking some time out to raise my offspring.

I’ve always been an avid reader, but a few years ago I rekindled my love for fantasy (and my kindle), and started thinking about a career switch. I started beta reading for fanfic authors, which led to being a beta reader for a lovely indie author, to working with an editorial house, before finally taking the leap to becoming a freelance editor.

I love that editing allows me to combine my love for reading, analysis skills, and eye for detail to help shape the stories of authors.
